花札〜 Hanafuda 〜

The world of flower cards.

Do you know the card game "Hanafuda" ?

Hanafuda is also called
"Hana Karuta" and "Hana Awase".

It is a Japanese card game that
expresses the beauty of nature in each season.

Let`s look at the colorful world of Hana fuda.

　I will explain"KoiKoi". "Koikoi" is the most common version of the game.

（１）　Let`s remenber the cards !

Hanafuda has 4 cards representing each month. A total of 48 cards is used to play.
(4 cards×12 months =48 cards)

Each month has four of the same flower or plant.
Please remember this point.

（２）　Preparation

Deal the cards like this.
・You : 8 cards.(face down)
・Opponent : 8 car(face down)
・the center or "Ba" has 8 cards face up.

The rest stay in the pack ,
called the "Yakufuda".

The game is now ready to begin.

（３）The dealer or "oya" begins the game .

The second player , or "ko" , follows the "oya" .

Each player matches card , from their hand (same month )
with cards on the table in the"Ba".

【１：　Throwing out cards.】

Now check whether or not any cards in your hand match
the month of those in the center "Ba".

You have to throw out 1 card to the center "Ba".

If the card you throw out is the same month as a card in the center "Ba", you make a match by calling "Aifuda"

【２：　Drawing cards from the pack (Yamafuda) !! 】

Don't worry if you can't make a match.
You can drow one card from
the "Yamafuda"pack.

After throwing out 1 card from your hand.
You must choose another from
the "Yakufuda" pack.

If the card you drew matches the month of
a card in the "Ba", you get the card.

If the cards don't match, the new card stays in the "Ba".

Now, it is the next player's turn.

You repeat the procedure until the game is over.

（４）"Yaku"

Different comblnahous of cards have special points.
It's called a "Yaku", or special combination.

【You can win by having high-point "Yaku's" or combinations.】

Look at the tips and try!

After including "Yaku",
you can either【Finish the game】or【Continue playing "Koikoi"】

【Continue playing "Koikoi"】
　If you choose "Koikoi",
　　　　　　　　the game continues.

【Finish the game】
　After the score is calculated,
　you can proceed to the next game
　or stop playing.

In this case, your opponent calculate their "Yaku" score,
and can choose to contine (Koikoi) or calculate their scose (Yaku).

If the opponenr end the the game they get double their "Yaku" score and you cant add your own "Yaku".

If you do "Koikoi" (continue the game), you can't end the game wilhour making a new yaku.

If you colculate your "Yaku" find, you can choose to either end or continue the game.

（５）Finishing the game & Winning or losing.

The Score determines the winner.
